Root is a game of woodland warfare and adventure where 2–4 players (expandable to 6 with further expansions) compete for dominance over a vast forest. Each faction plays completely differently, with its own unique abilities, strategies, and victory conditions — creating a deeply asymmetric yet highly interactive experience.
The Marquise de Cat seeks to industrialize the forest and maintain order, while the Woodland Alliance rises in rebellion, building sympathy and spreading insurgency. The Eyrie Dynasties, once rulers of the forest, attempt to reclaim their former glory under rigid decree, while the wandering Vagabond moves between factions, forging alliances — or exploiting rivalries.
