The Fellowship of the Ring: Trick-Taking Game is a cooperative card game that lets players relive the events of The Fellowship of the Ring across eighteen story-driven chapters. While you can play chapters in any order, the full adventure unfolds best when experienced sequentially.
Each chapter casts players as beloved characters—Frodo, Gandalf, Sam, Pippin, Farmer Maggot, and more—each with unique objectives. Frodo may need to capture Ring cards, while Pippin aims to avoid taking tricks. As the journey progresses, new characters, items, and challenges appear, keeping the gameplay fresh and thematic.
The deck features 37 cards, with one removed each hand. Whoever receives the One Ring becomes Frodo, while the remaining players choose their roles strategically. The One Ring is the sole trump card, but can’t be led until it’s played off-suit.
Special rules adapt the game for two players (with a dummy hand) and solo play (controlling four character hands with limited card options), ensuring the quest is always possible—whether you have a full fellowship or are adventuring alone.
